dress

i made this dress for a friend and finished it a while ago now, but just came across the picture i took before i sent it to her and thought i would post it up as i was rather proud of how it turned out..i used a simplicirty/project runway pattern which i have used before for my own dresses, the only real difference with this being that i lined the inside of the dress, and took a little more time over trying to make sure it didn't look as unfinihsed as i usually end up making my own dresses - i think i get almost to the end and think "hurry up" and then just race to get it wearable..but i am working on my skills, and plan to make this pattern again for myself, but with a couple of alterations to the fit / cut of the pattern so it should fit a little better..that's one of the things which my QG sewing mentor is helping me with :)

  2. It's brilliant! I know what you mean about rushing to get things finished - I always end up with fraying hems a couple of weeks later because I couldn't be bothered to fold them under properly.

Funnily enough one of my next projects is quite a similar dress, also for a friend - if it turns out half as good as that one I'll be chuffed!

  3. I do think you underplay your dressmaking ability Char. All the things I've seen that you've made for yourself have been really lovely!
