I'm sure I can't be the only blogger who finds they've had a new dress for a while and worn it a few times but not actually got around to taking any outfit photos of it, can I?

After seeing this acrobat print dress at Emily and Fin's stall at Pure, I knew I'd have to get my hands on it just as soon as I could. The only problem? There are literally no E+F stockists anywhere near me. Thankfully, E+F gave me a heads up on which shops were due to get this one in, and I bought mine from Quetty Bang, who were super-duper helpful.

I've not had any of the Emily and Fin Lucy dresses before. This is actually a slightly refined version, the Lucy Long, which is a perfect length for me with heels. I took the opportunity to give these polka dot tights a try. Brand new out of the packet and they had a big hole in them - I really am hopeless with tights! (At least they were a pair I'd picked up for £1 in the New Look sale so I don't feel too bad if I can't get many more wears from them).

I also thought the whole thing would go rather well with this new (to me) pair of Irregular Choice / Blythe shoes. I'm told the style is called "Akemi". I just love the pom pom fronts and I sort of find the dolls themselves endearing rather than freaky.

  1. Hahah I bought these exact same tights for £1 in New Look! The dress looks lovely, and those shoes are amazing (I think I commented on Instagram? Still loving your IR challenge.)

I know what you mean about wearing things and not taking any outfit pictures. I've got a good few things in my wardrobe that I've worn repeatedly since getting them yet have never made it onto the blog. A heart print shirt, for example, that I wore a lot at the end of last year and then on Valentine's day - but the weather/time/life hasn't allowed for pictures. Problem is, then the novelty wears off and I don't want to put it in an outfit post any more! xxx

    1. That just about sums it up for me - sometimes I'll have issues because I'll leave the house for a gym class in my gym clothes, get changed at the gym, and then not get home until late because I'll have guides or a meeting or something after work, so I don't look my best or feel like taking photos and then when I've worn something a few times I'll sort of forget I never took any photos of it in the first place, by which time I'll be a bit bored of it.

  3. Sometimes the boyfriend isn't around for me to take pictures and I do terrible taking them by myself :)
I love the dress with the cute print, but I have to admit I do find the dolls on your shoes a little bit creepy, but that could be because I can find the creepy in anything :)

  4. This dress is beautiful! Love the colour and pattern so much. Such a fan of little polka dot tights too. Man, I've bought some lovely things recently that I have worn but for one reason or another I never got around to taking outfit photos of! You are definitely not alone.

    1. I think it's sometimes just hard to find the time. I guess it's fairly obvious from my photos that I just take photos of the outfits I wear, rather than dressing up for photo-shoot style sessions like some blogs have, and that means I have to try and fit them in at the end of the day, or before I leave the house in the morning.

  5. I really love that dress print it's so pretty and the shoes are stunning too. I'm really loving long length dresses and skirts at the moment. I'm always wearing a thousand outfits that I love and think would make such good outfit posts, but it's almost always on days when I'm far too busy to take photos or the weather is rubbish! x

    1. When I first saw the dress in the lookbook I wasn't sure what the print was - I love it now though.

  6. We are probably all as bad Char to be honest. My main problem is I live in comfy clothes at the moment so over half my wardrobe is being left unworn.

I used to have an issue when I left the house at stupid o'clock and then didn't get in till even stupider o'clock. Your never up to taking any pictures then are you? Far too shattered.

    1. Yeah, I think that's the problem, and I'd feel a bit daft putting an outfit back on just for photos on another day or something.
