Isn't it funny how sometimes the outfits you give the very least thought to, can turn out to be some of the best ones?

This dress is one which I made purely because I was trying to use up some of my fabric stash before I'd allow myself to buy any more. I bought it for a very reasonable price from Fancy Silk Store in Birmingham, back in February and Roisin bought some in a very similar colour, which she made up into an Anna dress. I kind of love that we have similar and some of the same fabrics and yet our dress choices with them are always somewhat different. I guess that's the beauty of making your own. Even if you start off with the same fabric, you still don't end up wearing the same clothes as someone else.

The point being, when I made this dress I was all "OK, it's just another Emery, nothing to write home about" and I popped it on the rail with the others I'd made around the same time, waiting for #MMMay14 to begin. It was only when I came to wear it on Monday that I realised that it might actually be up there with my favourite makes. Weird, huh? I've decided that I really like the colour, the CK-esque print and the way that the bright pink allowed me to wear my favourite coat and a pair of ICs which I'd never worn. (Well, they may not actually go with the dress that well, but hey ho).

It can be funny to see how my thoughts about a certain piece may change although usually it works the other way - I'll buy something, think that I love it, come to wear it a couple of times and then wonder what I was thinking. Am I the only one?

    1. The fabric is rather similar in colour. In fact, I was thinking of making this with sleeves but decided against it on the basis that it would look too similar to the Laura Ashley dress.
