For once, I came to the end of the day and still really liked this outfit. I love the shoes, I really love the bag and I still love the dress after wearing it for a day.

The owl bag is something I've had in my head as being something to look for for such a while now. I'd almost forgotten about it and then saw Tor with one recently and restarted my search. I was on the verge of buying one from an ebay seller in Hong Kong, but then one popped up from the UK and was going for pennies - such luck - and I love it just as much as I thought I would when it arrived.

As for the dress, I bought the fabric from the Sewing for Pleasure show which Sarah and I went to in March, and wasted little time in making up a NL6223 from it. At the time I wasn't sure what the make was but I've found it for sale here if you were wondering (and there is a blue version, too).

I'd saved this dress with the intention of wearing it with this pair of shoes to pick out the blue in the camera print, for #MMMay14. I've been posting daily photos on my Instagram feed, and will do a round up post at the end of the month, but it's a great challenge and I've really been enjoying it. I've also managed to get another dress (ANOTHER NL6223) finished this weekend, in between making things for other people, and clearing out a huge pile of clothes and shoes from my wardrobes to try and make some space - again, have listed these on my Instagram page.

How was your weekend?

  1. You're so clever at running up dresses. I've been inspired to have a go and have just ordered a really simple shift dress pattern. Wish me luck! P.S. Love the owls xx

  3. Awesome dress!

I'd definitely recommend this pair of Kat Maconie shoes, I think because they're low they're a bit more practical for everyday. Only worn them once so far but they were absolutely fine, no blisters or anything.
