Satin sparkle..
On Saturday, after a meeting about camp in the morning which I'd hoped would be a little more useful, I popped into Primark for the first time in months. I didn't have many expectations from the trip, if I'm honest, and was mainly looking for clothes for the 5yr old we were accompanying.
I think that making a lot more of my own clothes recently has done something to make me that bit more picky about quality of fabrics and the general build quality of cheap clothing. I will be less likely to buy something if it's not lined, or made from a cheap quality fabric, as I'd be more inclined to think that I could make something similar myself.
That said, I did pick up a few things. These two dresses were on the sale rails at £5 each. They're made from a similar thick barkcloth fabric as my mushroom, bird and bus print dresses from Cath Kidston, and the shape of them is really cute. At £5 each I can't think that many people would refuse.
I do love a good playsuit, and this pink one caught my eye partly due to it's attached necklace detail, but also because the fabric is more of a thick satin than the regular cotton you tend to see. I think it would therefore be great to dress up for nights out - although whether I'd be brave enough for a playsuit / heels combination, I'm not sure.
I've been fairly ruthless with things like old socks, underwear and PJs lately and having taken a bag to the clothes recycling bank last week I figured I could certainly do to build my sock collection back up a little bit. I was wondering about wearing these lace ones with sandals, as that always seems to be one of those things which looks so good on other people..
As for the jumper: a good basic in a lovely bright colour and a lovely soft wool. And I couldn't resist the boat print vest, which will no doubt be teamed with shorts for camping / allotment times.
Have you been to Primark lately? Found any bargains?

ReplyDeleteI was SO pleased with them!
DeleteI love the dresses! I raided Primark big time the other weekend, my wardrobe is bulging x
ReplyDeleteOh, I'm so out of storage space - hoping the house hunt takes a good turn soon!
DeleteI've ummed and ahed over that boat vest but decided not to. Also contemplated the stripy dress too! X
ReplyDeleteI thought it would be a nice basic for camping with some shorts, I do love a good boat print.
DeleteCute finds! I love the dresses. I've only been to Primark once in the last three years, and only like to go on weekdays when there are less people around as I find the place stressful. Some of their stuff is really cute, but I do find them a bit hit and miss at times. xx
ReplyDeleteTrue, it's always pretty busy. I'd been kind of dreading it, but actually considering it was a Saturday afternoon, we didn't find it too bad!
DeleteWhat a good haul. The play suit sounds fun. I haven't been into Primark for an age, the one near me is always a bit same old, same old. I am trying to buy as much as I can second hand at the moment and I'm finding most things need / want.
ReplyDeleteI do find it's a good thing to leave it for a few weeks, otherwise it can get a bit boring.
DeleteI love those dresses and they're such a bargain!
ReplyDeleteI know, I was SO pleased with them - £5 each and they're so much better quality than most Primark dresses!
