This dress is pretty much brand new but already full of happy memories. I made it on Sunday during a day with the Mean Girls at Sarah's house. We met for brunch at Bill's and then spent the day sewing. The fabric was some I'd bought when Sarah and I went to the Quilting Show and the print is a kind of sewing-themed newsprint. The articles are kind of hilarious, full of dreadful puns and kept someone occupied yesterday for a while whilst I was talking to them.

Then, yesterday I wore it for an almost-full day of work, then a trip to my favourite cinema. We saw Jersey Boys, which was rather good, despite having seen the stage show a number of years ago and therefore knowing most of the plot.

I went all monochrome with my zig zag shoes and a boring black blazer, hence the bright blue necklace to add just a little colour to the whole ensemble.

When I got home, I got my sewing box out and discovered some pinking shears and a Kinder Egg panther from the weekend - love you, Roisin!

It's been a week of good things so far, ignoring the fact that I'm currently terrified by the prospect of an upcoming spa break, as I don't think I'm brave enough to wear a swimsuit in public in a place like that. Body confidence woes are back with a vengeance, it seems.

    1. Thanks - I have got over the fact that it's a little shorter than I'd usually make, I think it looks decent enough here.

  2. Aww I love this dress, and I love the idea of a sewing afternoon, although I can't sew, and actually I think the meal at Bill's is what is tempting me, haha :)

  3. Beautiful!!! And such a fun pattern too!!
To try and combat your costume terror, the thing you have to try and remember with swimming costumes is that everyone feels a but embarrassed and self-conscious, we are just not used to it and everyone (or at least me!!!) Is trying to avoid looking at anyone else at all!!! But I do understand. X

    1. I'm not sure. I've told him it's a lovely gesture but I'll think about it. I think my friend who would also come is really looking forward to the idea of a relaxing time away from work though, so I might have to.

  5. Absolutely love the bright turquoise against the monochrome, so striking. Great dress. Re the other thing, you'll be fine...when I'm feeling bleugh, I just try to adopt the 'fake it til you make it' approach and fake the confidence for the time being.
