Sunday Shoes 059: Irregular Choice Toadstool Heels..

059

I've not done one of these posts in a little while because to be honest, I've not bought a new pair of shoes in a while. I know, that might sound impossible to believe but it's actually true. I think that the realisation of how many pairs of shoes I own has sort of sunk in a little and I'm not sure that I need or have space for any more at the moment. I counted up how many pairs I have left to wear for the #irregularchoicechallenge and it was more than I'd thought by quite a way, and I guess whilst I'm feeling restricted to wearing that particular brand, I've not been that interested in purchasing any other shoes.

That said, I don't think my Sunday Shoes needs to be saved for new pairs. Instead, for this week's post I'm sharing one of my absolute favourite pairs of Irregular Choice. These toadstool court shoes were one of the first pairs I bought and I've almost worn the soles right through, I've worn them so much!

Even now, they stain my tights turquoise when I wear them, but I consider them one of *those* types of pair which go with just about any outfit. They've explored new cities and danced until the small hours of the morning in dingy nightclubs as well as attending meetings and popping out for dinner.
One of the toadstool charms always spins around as though it's going to fall off, but it hasn't yet.

Do you have favourite shoes because of the memories they hold?

  1. They are very cute!!!! I don't know if I keep shoes for so long that they hold memories, it is more dresses that I do that with. X

    1. Oh, I tend to keep shoes until I wear them out - which doesn't happen that quickly when you have so many to wear your way through.

  2. How many pairs of shoes do you own?

I did have a pair of mustard yellow heels which I have a soft spot for, because they were given to me by a friend before she went travelling the world. But I've just had to get rid of them because heels hurt my knee and back (I'm getting old..). I'm not that emotionally attached to shoes - more clothes, well, really more books...but I like reading about other people's stuff!

    1. Well, I've not counted any of the non-IC pairs, but ICs, it looks like 221.

  3. I'm at FULL capacity too, like not a single pair more or indeed a bag or anything, I literally can't move in my room! Yet I'm constantly "ooh I need them, oh they're coming out, I like them, I want those" grrrr! I do buy a lot less than I used to though, really a LOT. The shoe challenge helped me realise I didn't need to do that "I'll have one in every colour and they're only £12, just get them" type thing any longer. I used to have the black pair of these, but sold them (I seem to tell you that every time I comment-proof I have gotten rid of loads of shoes I guess), the red were always my favourite though, so pretty.

  4. Such a gorgeous pair of shoes! I can see why you love them so much. You have the most amazing shoe collection I've ever seen, and I can't believe you've still got loads more IC to wear. Can I come play dress up??

I've hardly got any shoes; I probably only have about 20 pairs! I need to invest in lots of new shoes, but shopping for them is a pain when you've got wide feet and one foot half a size bigger than the other! xx

    1. I guess that must make shopping for shoes difficult. I buy a lot of my pairs via eBay, whcih can be a bit hit and miss, but I'm trying to be a bit more ruthless and get rid of the ones which aren't quite right, by reselling them.

    2. And absolutely - you're always welcome to come dress up!

  5. I guess all my shoes hold memories, I hadn't thought of it like that before. Maybe that's why I find it so hard to part with shoes?!

    1. Yep, I think I find the same -memories get attached to clothes and shoes and it's hard to part with them even if you know you won't wear them again!
