Clarks Orla Dotty Shoes
This really is a first for me. My first pair of Clarks shoes. Possibly ever. I wasn't one of the mainstream Clarks school shoes kids when I was at school. But I'm always open to new things and last week Sarah took me along to the Clarks store in Birmingham to try on a pair of shoes she thought I'd like,

She was right, as usual. I tried on my usual size and had to go down one size, but sadly the store didn't have the oxblood colour in a 6.5 so I had to order them online instead. I'd tried the black version on so knew that 6.5 would be right for me.

They arrived a couple of days later and I like them just as much as I had in the store. I'll admit the heel is a little shorter - and more sensible? - than I would usually go for, but Sarah assured me that they don't make my feet look ridiculously clown-lengthed.

I really like the oxblood colour, and the mix of textures; most of the front it ponyskin and the cute patent pink polka dots are a really good contrast. I also really like the contrasting chunky buckle on the strap.

All in all, they are pretty great and will make a super addition to my "sensible" shoes collection. They're pretty sensible for me, after all.

In the past I've overlooked the Clarks x Orla Kiely range but it's definitely a collection I'll be keeping a close eye on in future.

What do you think of the Clarks x Orla range?

  1. These are gorgeous! If I wore leather I'd definitely look into this range. Clarks shoes last ages too.

  4. I just adore those soles! There was a pair from the previous collection I liked, but like you they felt too clumsy and chunky. I hadn't tried them in person, so they might not be. I quite like this oxblood colour on the go just now but HATE the name, conjures up gross things in my mind! We were Clarks kids, though I remember us waiting literally hours (with a ticket) in Russell & Bromley in Edinburgh for school shoes one year. No idea how we were able to afford (three pairs) because we never had much money.

    1. Oh gosh, I'm glad I never was when I was a kid - I never envied anyone who had Clarks school shoes. I used to stomp around in chunky ankle boots with heels and Victorian style hooks for the laces. Loved those!

  5. Ooh, I love them! Wish they were more affordable, as I'd be so there! I didn't know Orla Kiely made shoes, and I haven't even had a pair of Clarks since I was really young. I keep seeing great shoes from them! xx

  7. I absolutely love the orla kiely clarks collection. I was so surprised when my friend told me about it as I would never normally look in clarks either.
The dotty style is my favourite too, I love the burgundy and the mustard colour, theres no way I could pick. Unfortunately I cant afford the price tag so I'll just be admiring from a far!

  8. I do love these and have been after a pair myself but find it really difficult to justify spending that much on a pair of shoes (I'm tight!) - they are gorgeous though!

  9. They're so pretty! Love love love Clarks shoes! My Mom always said they were the best but they weren't considered 'cool'. My favourite pair of shoes, possibly ever, are my Clarks brown brogues so much so, I bought them in black and am just about to order the same pair. I find that I am half a size smaller than my usual size in Clarks shoes as well. I hope you'll continue to be happy with them! :D

    1. Oh how strange; that must be fairly standard with their sizing, then. I love them and can't wait to give them their first proper outing!
