Friday Favourites 132..

Chi Chi Rose
001: Chi Chi Rose Dress, £66.99
Hazel Marble Print
002: Emily and Fin Hazel Dress, £75
Ugh, the spending ban is, quite frankly, becoming a bit of a bore. Until now, i'ts not been that difficult to stay away from spending, which is good. I've stopped wandering around the shops for want of something better to do, as frankly I've not had the time. Or perhaps I've been using my time more wisely. Any spare evening and weekend time has been spent attached to the sewing machine, catching up on orders I've taken for items to be made. Or, things for myself. I'm slowly working my way through my fabric stash as well, which is good.

But, every now and then I'll see someone tweet a link to a cute dress or something, and get a bit frustrated that I can't just mindlessly add it to my wardrobe. I'm sure that before long I'll have ditched the habit completely, so I won't be so annoyed about it.

001: This Chi Chi dress stole my heart ever since I saw Law looking absolutely beautiful in her birthday outfit. The colour is just perfect, as is the lace detail. It's the perfect length to be demure rather than tacky, which is a fear with some lace dresses I've seen. I just think it would be perfect for parties.

002: This is a new Emily and Fin style to me: the Hazel dress. I've not seen this shape before but it's cute collar detail is appealing me to, for sure. I love the quirky, but not too in-your-face marble print. And the V-shaped back, which I'm favouring a lot lately with dresses I'm making.

Not sure that putting wishlists together is a helpful deterrent to shopping. What are you wishing for lately?

  2. These are certainly very pretty, I can see the temptation!! I found an Emily and Fin top on my charity shop crawl (current post!!!) Which I was chuffed about. I really like the Cath Kidston cloud and ricrac dressees and any beautiful novelty dress has me tempted but I have begun the ban for Lent and even though my birthday is coming up and I could ask for a dress for it from my Dad, I think it better I save the money for house deposit if he chooses to give me some money instead. x x

  3. Oooh I love both, don't think I have any pink dresses. If you see any cute train print ones on your travels let me know ;) I've been buying lots of classic striped tops recently, trying to focus on losing a few pounds so all my old stuff fits again. Not finding that easy though xx

    1. If you do manage to get your hands on some train print fabric, send it my way and I'd be happy to make it up for you.

  4. The Chi Chi dress is beautiful, I recently bought a skirt from them which basically looks like the bottom half of that dress but in black and silver. It's so pretty, I want to wear it all the time and feel like a princess.

  6. That first Chi Chi dress is so cute! I love the floral detailing and you're right it's lovely and very demure. I'm on a bit of a permanent spending ban until I land full time employment which is helping but I know how hard it is when you go for a wander and see something that make your heart leap! - Tasha

    1. Well, on the whole I'm managing to avoid shops and websites other than to put these lists together. So it's not too bad, but I'm trying hard to avoid temptation.

    1. True, it's a tricky one to stick to, but I felt that I could just focus on the things I already have in my wardrobes for a while without needing anything new.

  9. I suspect putting lists like this together would be unhelpful if I were on a no-buy! Too much temptation ; ) I've been eyeing those Chi Chi dresses for a while and keep telling myself I never go anywhere fancy enough to wear them, so they'd be waste of money. They are GORGEOUS though.

    1. True, it might be easier to stick to if I didn't have a browse online to make these lists.. :)

  10. A Hazel dress! It's fate, yes?
I nearly (so nearly) bought the chi chi dress in cream with dark blue embellishment for my wedding dress.
Keep up the spending ban - you're doing so well x
