I mentioned last month that I was taking part in #FrockSwap15, where we each send an item of clothing on to the others for them to style up. I was excited to receive my first parcel, last week, which came from Donna. She sent this bird print dress and yellow clutch bag, which I thought actually go quite nicely together. I'm not sure if the two items are supposed to be worn together or not.

The dress is long-sleeved and fairly straight cut, so not exactly the shape I'd usually be drawn to, as well as being a little shorter than I'd usually choose, so I decided that I'd style it with flats. These Irregular Choice trainers, which I like due to their fabulous faux flower detail.

I figured that the colours in this blazer were quite close to those in the bird pattern and likewise these tights. Rather than narrow waist belt, I decided to try and add some detail to the waist with this corsage tie (it's actually a necklace, apparently), which I thought would work with the shoes, despite being totally different flowers.

I finished the outfit off with this cute brooch, which was a lovely Christmas present a couple of years ago.

How did I do? How would you have styled Donna's dress?

    1. Thanks. I had almost forgotten about them. Mine were seconds because of the black marks around the soles, but they're great.

  4. Dying over that brooch, sooo cute! Wow, to fit a necklace as a belt, lol! I just found an old skirt of mine I used to wear when I went to pubs as a teenager and the waist was ridiculous...it literally just fits around one thigh now! Haha. I like the way you've styled the dress with the additions of the flowers on the belt and trainers, it all ties in.

    1. it's really just a long piece of ribbon with corsages on, but DP sold it as a necklace.

  6. I really love this! Particularly the shoes and necklace-belt.
I would also have gone for brightly coloured tights. Sadly I only have one pair of wearable shoes which are black ankle boots, but they'd do.

    1. Oh, I have far too many shoes - i think when you forget about what shoes you have, it probably means too many.

  7. Yes, that is a cute brooch! I love how you've been so creative with this dress, I always stuff a jumper over it and hope for the best! I think I'll definitely be teaming it with some florals - I think I'm a little too old now to put it with trainers! xx
