Down the rabbit hole..

Dress: Handmade // Cardigan: Primark
I was a little concerned that this fabric wasn't going to make it into an actual dress the other day. Distracted by a sub-titled movie I had on in the background, I didn't notice until I'd already begun to cut out the front bodice piece against the fold of the fabric, that I'd pinned it the wrong way round.

As I'd picked the fabric up from a craft show last year, I didn't have any spare, so I tried to save it the only way I could think of, by adding a little more to the front seams, cutting the front bodice piece in half and making it a button front bodice. I think it kind of worked.

Alice Brooch: Tangerine Menagerie (Etsy) // Necklace: Handmade
I decided that for it's first wear, I'd go for some Alice-inspired accessories. I know that there ARE hedgehogs in the croquet game part of Alice in Wonderland, but I don't immediately associate them with the story.  That said, I was desperate to give my new brooch it's first outing. This is one of my super Christmas presents, and came from Tangerine Menagerie on Etsy. I know that the Alice design sells out pretty quickly but that she tries to restock every week or so.

Kim Bow heels: Irregular Choice

Naturally, I needed a flamingo to go with my hedgehogs, so dug out this handbag. His legs do make me smile. Plus, a necklace made from a dolls' tea set, which I figured was also fairly inkeeping with the theme.

I feel as though I'm well and truly back into my life routine now, which is quite refreshing. Thankfully my gym is back into it's routine as well, which has meant pre-work swimming and post-work gymming continues.

  3. That's a fun novelty outfit!!! Now you just need to DIY applique some hearts, diamonds, spades and clubs in complimentary colours to a cardie to go with the dress and you'll have a full set of novelty Alicisms!!! I love the tangerine menagerie brooches, they are so so nice!!! You did well to be bought one of those, they are quite pricey, but v worth it!! Hope that you are well, nice to be in a routine!!!

  6. In love with this dress! Such a clever idea to save it, and I think it worked out really well with the colourful buttons - in fact, I might even steal the idea to use on a future make, although I do hate sewing buttons on, so we'll see! I adore the brooch too - I'm planning to try to wear more accessories this year, especially cute fun ones like this :)
