I'm so hopeless at supermarket shopping, it's not even funny. I get distracted and come away without half of the things on my list, but with extras which I'd not bargained for. I'm always distracted by clothes sections and homeware; I find cardigans and coffee jars much more exciting than carrots or chocolate bars and always will.
But anyhow, I thought I'd share the unexpected items which came home with me from Sainsbury's the other day. One of their new homeware ranges is called Flower Market and is full of lovely pastel tones and floral prints. There are cushions, candles and all kinds of kitchenware. I managed to talk myself out of this amazing vase (I rarely have any fresh flowers and already own a perfectly good vase or two), but I am always in need of extra storage, so this Kilner jar has already taken it's place in my store cupboard filled with cashew nuts (I'm suffering quite a bit lately with an iron deficiency, so I'm always looking for sources of iron, and these are great for adding to salads and curries).
I also grabbed one of the storage tins, which is being used to house bread flour. I don't buy bread anymore; on the odd occasion I have any, it's homemade, so I need to keep all of the dry ingredients in at all times and I hate keeping flour in the bag - much better to make sure it's kept fresh in a sealed container.
I can't find links for the storage containers online just yet, but the third item I picked up was this ceramic muffin tray. I do so much baking and whilst I've had a silicone muffin tray for a while, I really don't get on with it - I find that it stays greasy even after going through the dishawasher, plus the fact that it bends all over the place when I'm trying to get it in to the oven, so I'm hoping that this one makes a decent alternative, as well as being pretty cute. Polka dots and florals, what's not to love?
Do you get distracted when you're supposed to be grocery shopping? Spotted anything good lately?
