ladybird ladybird fly away home..

heels : irregular choice
dress : jaeger

I freaking love this dress. I ordered it, took it back as this one was too big and I didn't think I'd wear it, but then spent weeks checking back on the site each day, just in case. Lo and behold, they got it back in my size and I snapped it up, had it delivered to store and picked it up the following day. Now all I need is an occasion to wear it.

friday favourites 058..

001: Peter Jensen dinosaur jumper, £195, ASOS
002: ASOS Leather Midi Skirt, £120
Despite the fact that I might currently be camping, at the beach, and therefore want decent weather, please, my thoughts this week have mostly been turning to autumn weather, lots of layers, jumpers and luxe fabrics. (Well, that's not strictly true, there was this Emily and Fin dress which I have my eye on, but they're making it sort of impossible to get hold of.)

001: I have about a trillion jumpers already. Having never previously been much of a jumper fan, my collection does seem to have grown and grown over the past year. I need this dinosaur one, though. And isn't the ant print skirt sort of awesome as well?

002: I have a thing about leather skirts. I already had a dilemma about whether or not my leather pencil skirt is too dominatrix for a day at the office, but I don't think it is. A leather midi skirt would therefore be totally ok, no? Particularly in this lovely burgundy colour!

What are you hoping for as the seasons start to change?

got to shake up you're freezing..

heels: faith
cardigan : bay
earrings: dorothy perkins
dress: people tree
blazer: h+m
More often than not, when I choose an outfit, I'll stick with it for the whole day. I don't often get chance to stop at home and change between work and any evening plans, so whatever I choose I have to be happy that it's fairly transitional.

A slight exception to this rule, a couple of weeks back. I had to be fairly presentable for a meeting, and sometimes I'm not convinced that purple glitter heels are always going to cut it, with clients. I stuck with the same People Tree dress (a recent sale buy and my first order from them) for the whole day, switching shoes and blazer for a slightly more quirky cardigan and pair of shoes for my evening plans.

thirty dirty birds sitting on a curb..

dress: cath kidston
shoes: primark
cardigan : dorothy perkins
I took these outfit photos a couple of weeks ago now, at least. I didn't post them up at the time because I wasn't such a fan of how this outfit turned out in as I'd thought I might be. But as I'm currently drowning under the stress of last minute guide camp prep, I didn't have time to take any today, so I'm sort of scraping the barrel.

I love the dress. It's the same fabric and style as the mushroom one, and I bought it when I was shopping with Sarah when I visited her a few weeks ago. She bought this one too, but in the other colour.

I think it's just the cardigan I'm not a fan of. I always forget it's a really thin one, which makes me feel as though I have giant, The-Hulk style arms. Yuck.

so sick of being tired, and oh so tired of being sick..

dress : primark
wedges: clothing at tesco
handbag: moony mood
This was an outfit last week, created around a pair of shoes I'd totally forgotten I owned. These Clothing at Tesco wedges are really cute and summery. I think the print is supposed to be birds but it kind of reminds me of goldfish.

I'm not sure why but I don't like the way the dress looks on me, so that one is in the blog sale as soon as I can get a photo up there. I've got a few dresses to get rid of there already, in quite a range of sizes, as well as a few more things, if you wish to take a look.

Today has been quite the day of stress.

girl, we're star crossed and can't escape..

necklace: topshop
dress: gift from Sarah (Monsoon Fusion)
shoes: irregular choice

(An Ash lyric for the title as they always make me think of Sarah.)

When these shoes arrived I couldn't wait to wear them and decided this dress would be a perfect match. I also actually remembered to dig out a necklace. This one is ancient, I remember wearing it quite often when I first got it but I don't think it's been out of the jewellery box for a good few years, now. The neckline on this dress lends itself to a necklace, though - I looked in the mirror before leaving the house and felt as though something was missing.

sunday shoes 019: dan sullivan "got the hump"

New shoes? Again? Um, yes.

This is my first pair of Dan Sullivan for Irregular Choice. I have to admit that when the collections are first released I tend to find them all ludicrous, both in terms of design and price. These Got The Hump wedges were actually no exception to that statement, to begin with.

After a few months, they'd grown on me to the point where I'd bookmarked them. For some reason I didn't check the sale until a little while into it and by the time I did, they'd sold out in my size, in both colours. And that's when I realised just how much I did like them - always the way, isn't it?

The folks at Irregular Choice tried hard to help me track a pair down, but to no avail: they were completely sold out. I'd given up the search and then had an email from Gemma, who'd noticed there was one pair back on the site. I ordered them so quickly I didn't even notice which colour they were until they arrived, but that's fine as I liked them both (they were quite similar really), but probably did prefer the navy if I'm honest.

Now that they have arrived, I can safely say that I love them. Even the Dan Sullivan box is cute. I like the fact that they're presented totally differently to any of the standard Irregular Choice designs, not just with the print on the box, but also the fact that this one opens with some kind of clever folding mechanism which rises the inner box. Kind of like a pop-up birthday card, if you like.

The wedges themselves are cork style heels and platforms with a gold coloured covering and then the camel detail on the side of the shoes, with the rope and tassel detail which I love. The uppers are a sort of checked hessian material and the whole shoe makes me think of Aladdin, I think.

I went for my usual size (well that was all they had) but luckily the fit seems nice and true to size, so I am beginning to think that Irregular Choice have finally sorted out their sizing inconsistencies. I can't find them on the site anymore to link to, so I guess they really are totally sold out now. Very glad I got my hands on a pair, and I think in future I'll be less likely to dismiss the DS collections quite so quickly.

What do you think of the Got The Hump heels?

we're up all night til the sun..

sandals : clothing at tesco
shorts : urban outfitters
blazer : primark
Weekends sometimes call for dressed down comfort. I found these shorts in the wardrobe and realised they'd never been worn, so I thought I'd try them in an outfit. I'm not so sure I like them as much as I thought I would in my head. I think I had in mind something a little more high-waisted, like one of these Tara Starlet pairs or something. It's a shame because I really want to love the cute little bumblebee print.

I went for a fairly basic vest, blazer and sandals, tried to match the necklace to it all and went out hoping for the sun to make an appearance - which it didn't, so I spend most of the day shivering away in the blazer and wishing I'd put some tights and brogues on instead of sandals and bare legs. Ah well, you win some, you lose some.

friday favourites 057..

001: School's Out Dress, £36.80
002: Field of Dreams dress, £43
Last week's wishlist seemed to be all about embracing the change of season, whereas now that I've found the Miss Patina site, all I want to do is embrace pretty summer dresses for as long as possible. Sarah and I were on a mission during the week to try and find as many UK based clothing brands as we could.

001: How cute is the  pretty cloud print on this dress? I'm quite sure I don't have any clouds in my wardrobe - well, fairly sure anyway so this would be a welcome addition.

002: This is the dress which first stole my heart when I first clicked on to the site. I was completely drawn to the green piping around the neckline and the fact that it matches the buttons on the bodice, before I even noticed the pretty floral print on the skirt. Really want this!

What has caught your eye this week? Do you know of any other UK brands?

the words are hushed let's not get busted..

cardigan: h+m
dress: clothing at tesco
shoes: primark

I remember not being too sure about this dress the first time I wore it, and I'm still not. Genuine honesty? The reason I wore it is it's one of the smallest sized things I own and I wanted to see if I still fit in it; a bit of a reality check if you like. Last time I wore it I wasn't sure, and I'm still not. I think it fits me worse now, which sort of makes me want to cry. I've spent the past couple of weeks wondering whether or not to press 'publish' on a post about my body confidence, but I think I might do.

Not sure it helps that I have also decided I don't like the cardigan (which I don't actually think I have *ever* worn), which may have had an effect on my feelings about the whole outfit. Meh.

Feeling a little more sorted for my guide camp next week, and a lot better than I was a few days ago, although still a bit dizzy now and again. I just have to figure out how to get everything done in the absolute lack of spare time I'm going to have in the next week. Fuuuuck.

why do toadstools live so close together..?

shoes: primark
mushroom print dress: cath kidston
They don't need mushroom. That was the best one of a whole day of mushroom jokes yesterday.

Despite the appalling puns, I am firmly in love with this dress. Apparently, since Sarah and I ordered them a few weeks back, it seems to be sold out with no plans of restocking, so I'd had fleeting thoughts about ebaying it to help pay for the HUGE food shop I need to do for next week's guide camp. But then I wore it and it cheered my day up so much that I don't want to part with it after all.

The stress is mounting up this week; one of those where I have too many things to do and not enough time. Thankfully, I seem to be feeling a little better - just hugely guilty about missing two spinning classes. Argh.

he's got a rolling stones tee, but he only knows one song..

dress: laura ashley (via vintage fair)
shoes: irregular choice
cardigan: matalan

This outfit seems to have taken me a little while to post. I actually wore these shoes again yesterday but after a quick march into town the "bum-shaped" fronts of them had rubbed my toes a little bit, so I got home and took them off as soon as I got in, without stopping to take any photos. I was so tired yesterday evening that I wanted to get straight in my PJs and do very little. My stress levels are paying for that today, though.

I seem to have so much to think about and organise and try to remember to get done. Argh. I'm still feeling a little under the weather but I think (hopefully) I'm getting better. A big glass of orange juice seemed to help this morning.

there's people falling in love around you, and there's people falling over their own shoes..

shoes: new look
dress: primark
I'm feeling really unwell today. Feeling sick and dizzy, as though everything around me is spinning, which is quite a horrid sensation. Think I'm going to have to try and see a doctor as it's been going on for a few days now. I have way too much to do this week to be ill, so this is not great timing.

I tried really hard not to let this spoil the enjoyment of my weekend, but have to admit it was a bit of a struggle - spinning class on Saturday morning certainly wasn't a good idea, in hindsight.

Think I've completely fallen out of love with both these shoes and this dress, so they'll be making their way to the blog sale page when I can get around to taking some photos.

sunday shoes 018: Irregular Choice Oz..

It's been a while since my last Sunday Shoes post, I know. That's not to say I've not had any new shoes, more that I haven't been that good at taking photos of them. But I'm back with a brand new pair.

I have to admit, I haven't had as many of the latest Irregular Choice designs on my wishlist as I usually have done with past collections. When I saw this pair of Oz heels, however, I couldn't wait to get my hands on a pair.

Now that the weather seems to be fast heading for a change of season (not before we've been camping, please!) I'm lookign forward to embracing some of my Autumn / Winter favourites. Tweedy textures and heritage looks seem to come around every year, but I quite like them, so this doesn't bother me too much.

It's not hard to see why I fell for the Oz heels, is it? They're the same shape, chunky perspex heel and bow detail as my Bowtiful heels and are just as comfortable. I love the luxe feel of the tweedy fabric, reminiscent of a Chanel suit or something. (That might just be me),

I've built up quite the collection of the original Irregular Choice courtesan heels (tape measure, mushroom, floral designs to name just a few) and I used to swear they were the most comfortable style ever made. I think I might be beginning to change my mind, though. The more of these perspex heels I collect (the new Rocko and Can't Touch This to name just a couple), the more I think that they might be a contender for that title.

I love a new pair of shoes.

want to do whatever common people do..

heels: primark // skirt: tu clothing
necklace: charity shop
blouse: marks and specncer

I'd forgotten about this skirt until I was flicking back through outfit posts yesterday to look for some photos of a particular pair of shoes, which I couldn't find. But anyway, this skirt stuck in my head and when I was feeling less than inspired for a Friday morning's outfit, I retrieved it from the skirt section of one of the wardrobes and dug through the blouses for a suitable one. I picked this people print one up in the M+S January sale; I'm not sure if I've worn it yet but thought it would be cute tucked in to this skirt and with yellow and black beads and accessories for a simple work outfit.
