Make yourself at home..
So, unless you've been living under a rock, you'll know that I've recently had the ceilings replaced and my flat redecorated following the flood damage from my boiler in November. I've been making quite a fuss about it, I know, but it's finally finished. A new lick of paint for the new year. That's part of my spring cleaning done, already, no?
The good thing about having had to pack everything up and move it out of the flat whilst the work was happening, was the unpacking when it was all done. I took the opportunity to have a bit of a clear out and also to move all of the living room furniture around, before settling on a new layout I was happy with.
I've taken a few snapshots of some of my favourite things. Most of my furniture was bought when I moved in several years ago, and some of it (the pink shelving in particular, which was from Ikea and seems to now be peeling at the edges) didn't hold up to the flood very well, so I've been scouring sites like Furniture Plus Online, trying to find some new pieces which would fit my style and taste.
I've been reading some blogs for inspiration, as it looks as though I'm not the only one considering something new. After reading Sandra's recent post, it got me wondering whether solid wood furniture would be a better solution. No doubt it would be more durable and longer lasting than my current laquer-covered shelving..? I'm seriously considering this painted bookcase. White goes with everything, right?
