So, unless you've been living under a rock, you'll know that I've recently had the ceilings replaced and my flat redecorated following the flood damage from my boiler in November. I've been making quite a fuss about it, I know, but it's finally finished. A new lick of paint for the new year. That's part of my spring cleaning done, already, no?

The good thing about having had to pack everything up and move it out of the flat whilst the work was happening, was the unpacking when it was all done. I took the opportunity to have a bit of a clear out and also to move all of the living room furniture around, before settling on a new layout I was happy with.

I've taken a few snapshots of some of my favourite things. Most of my furniture was bought when I moved in several years ago, and some of it (the pink shelving in particular, which was from Ikea and seems to now be peeling at the edges) didn't hold up to the flood very well, so I've been scouring sites like Furniture Plus Online, trying to find some new pieces which would fit my style and taste.

I've been reading some blogs for inspiration, as it looks as though I'm not the only one considering something new. After reading Sandra's recent post, it got me wondering whether solid wood furniture would be a better solution. No doubt it would be more durable and longer lasting than my current laquer-covered shelving..? I'm seriously considering this painted bookcase. White goes with everything, right?

Your dinosaur teapot has to be the best thing ever! So glad it's all sorted out now - nothing worse than living in chaos.

  7. Your furniture is so fun, and I especially love the blue bookcase. The dinosaur picture is pretty cute, too. And yep, white goes with everything! Go for it. Have you thought about looking for solid-wood furniture at boot sales, ebay, shop window listings etc? My sister has picked up some fantastic vintage furniture for literally just a couple of pounds each that way xx

  9. Oooooh that bookcase is lovely.

As much as I complained about moving in to the new flat and the boxes being everywhere, it was amazing to get stuff sorted and throw everything you don't want out. I LOVE a good clear out.

  12. The white bookcase you've linked to looks lovely. It's hard to go wrong with good wooden furniture. If you get fed up with the colour you can always repaint it. I love getting to see glimpses of your flat. It's just as colourful and funky as your dress sense. The dinosaur teapot is fantastic!
