I am definitely loving the recent splash of enthusiasm I seem to have had for my sewing. In the past week, after making my map print dress at Sarah's house, I managed to do a little sewing on three evenings of the past week. I finished off a pattern which was new to me; New Look 6223 which went together very simply, but seemed to take me a little time to get around to actually finishing. I think this was down to the fact that I chose to make Variation A so that it didn't look the same as Simplicity 2444, which I've been using a lot lately, but then realising that I'm not really a fan of the draped bodice effect.

Having come back with so much fabric from our shopping trip last weekend, I had a lot to choose from, but I couldn't wait to get started on the next make. I'd been a little concerned that I didn't have enough of this elephant print fabric to make a dress, as I'd thought it was a 60in roll instead of 45 for some reason in the shop, so I decided to crack on with cutting out with this one out to see if I was going to need more, in order that I could pick a little more up if necessary when I passed this weekend.

As it happened, with a little bit of sneaky positioning, I had more than enough for a short-sleeved Simplicity 2444, and I managed to get it together in record time on Saturday morning. I love the print, but wish it wasn't so liable to creasing up. I think it goes nicely with these Irregular Choice heels, and added this cardigan for a little contrast, as well as the fact that it's cosy and was 1C when I left the house this morning. Bring on the snow.

This make takes my count to six dresses so far for 2014. I think I'm going to manage my goal a lot more easily this year, as I can't wait to decide what to tackle next.

    1. Well I've made two more since this one, but I'm having that "what next dilemma", once again. I think I'm going to have a go at another Emery, but with shorter sleeves.

  3. I think that dress is one of the best things I have ever seen. Would you consider commissions and how much do you think you'd charge? xx

    1. Oh gosh, I'm not sure. I'm not really that confident when it comes to making things for other people, it's a bit different when you're making for yourself so you can alter it to fit a few times. I'll think about it, maybe, and let you know. x

    1. It's all just following a pattern really, and I make a lot of variations on the same dress. Glad I've inspired you to get sewing, though :)
